Jamie Spears Changes Lawyers Ahead of Britney Conservatorship Decision

His conservatorship of Britney Spears was halted and he recruited a new counsel.

Alex Weingarten of Willkie Farr & Gallagher has replaced his father’s longtime attorney Vivian Lee Thoreen.

As revealed by ‘Entertainment Tonight,’ Jamie “notified the court and all relevant parties that he is replacing Vivian L. Thoreen of Holland & Knight LLP for Alex M. Weingarten of Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP.”

Jamie has new legal counsel after Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny decided to replace Jamie as a temporary conservator with certified accountant John Zabel.

In her decision on November 12, the court will decide whether or not to remove Jamie as conservator after 13 years.

Her lawyer Mathew Rosengart earlier promised to pursue Jamie for “profiting from his daughter’s conservatorship.”

Jamie demanded $2 million in payments, including $1.3 million in legal costs, $500,000 for Britney’s old management firm, and extra payments to the patriarch, according to the lawyer.

A previous lawyer representing Jamie said he was “biting his tongue and not reacting to all the false, speculative and unfounded accusations.”

In Thoreen’s opinion, the court erred in suspending Mr. Spears, appointing a stranger to Britney’s estate, and extending the conservatorship Britney had requested to end earlier this summer.

British singer Britney Spears was placed under her father’s conservatorship in 2008.

Jamie subsequently stood down as full conservator and concentrated exclusively on Britney’s estate, until being replaced last month by the CPA.

The ‘Toxic’ singer recently praised her lawyer for helping her change her life by putting John in control of her estate.

In an Instagram post, she blamed her family, saying: “Sorry, you’re in a conservatorship, if you’re like my family… They believe you’re unique so they can f*** with you!!!!

‚ÄúThank God I discovered an outstanding lawyer Mathew Rosengart who changed my life!!!!”

Jodi Montgomery, who oversees Britney’s daily care and medical choices, will continue in her position.
