You must have seen this email if you have a Youtube channel, right? You can now add a customized handle username on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. 

Usernames such as @asedeyhotnaija instead of the random characters that are hard to memorize and cumbersome. 

In this article, I will guide you on changing your username on YouTube in less than 5 minutes. 

Your channel can have more than one URL that leads to your channel’s homepage. 

These URLs may seem different, but they all link to your channel’s same destination.

Personalized URLs include handle URLs, custom URLs, and legacy username URLs.

With a customized URL, you can provide your audience with a shorter and more unique link. 

You can use your current display name, an old username, or a confirmed, connected domain name to create a unique URL. 

There is no longer a way to create or modify a custom URL.

There will be no interruption in service for any previously established, user-created, and custom URLs.

It’s possible that your channel was given a name when it was created. 

Even though usernames aren’t necessary for channels anymore, you may still use this URL to send people to your channel. 

This also applies if you’ve changed your channel name after picking a username. It is not possible to modify an existing username.

It uses your unique channel ID, represented by the digits and letters at the end of the URL.

Steps to Change your Username on Youtube

If you link your YouTube channel to your Google Account, you can modify your channel name and profile pictures anytime you wish (pretty easily). 

If you edit it somewhere, the name and image will be updated across all your Google services.

To modify your YouTube username explicitly, you must:

  • Sign in to your YouTube account
  • Click on your avatar in the upper right corner to access Settings
  • Click Edit on Google next to your username in the Overview section
  • Click OK after updating the YouTube Username

In addition, you can:

  • Sign in to YouTube Studio
  • Navigate to Customization and Basic info
  • Fill up with any channel name you choose!
