Britney Spears just deactivated her Instagram account! Sounds crazy right? Meanwhile, fans have been depending on cryptic messages from the pop diva, dancing videos, and even topless photographs to get an idea of how she’s doing.
On Sunday, Sept. 12, she announced her engagement to fitness guru Sam Asghari on Instagram.
In the blink of an eye, followers’ lifeline is gone, leaving them to worry if her Instagram deactivation was a “positive or negative indication” for her health. Britney’s Twitter and Facebook accounts are still active, even though she updates less regularly.
It was only a few days later that she posted about her intention to leave Insta “Don’t worry folks … just taking a little break from social media to celebrate my engagement !!!!” she teased with a wink.
Her decision to leave Instagram should not be interpreted, according to a source at E! News. Britney is in a “very happy place” both legally and personally, “given her father’s imminent departure and personally, given events of last weekend,” the insider said.
Jamie Spears, her father, and conservator of her estate filed a petition on Sept. 7 asking a judge to terminate her conservatorship, which will be heard in court later this month.
According to a different source close to Jamie, he has had to “deal with a lot of stress and pressure and he wants to be done with it.
He further said, “Jamie feels by moving to end it, he is forcing their hand to make an evaluation happen sooner rather than later.”
The next week, she got more good news when Sam proposed to her at her home with a 4-carat diamond ring inscribed with the phrase “Lioness.”
Her celebrity pals immediately rallied to her side, with Octavia Spencer encouraging her: “Make him sign a prenup,” she wrote in an Instagram comment.
Soon after, Sam responded on his Facebook page, writing, “Thank you, everyone, is concerned about The prenup!” “Of course we’re getting iron-clad prenup to protect my jeep and shoe collection in case she dumps me one day.” he joked.
